There’re no seasons in San Diego. Right now, on December the fourth, 2008, it’s sixty-four degrees outside. I’m wading through sixty-two percent humidity. It’s mostly cloudly, with no precip in the forecast. San Diego’s a sort of heavenly purgatory–the atmosphere just never seems to change. With that in mind, it’s easy to understand why I just noticed that, HOLY COW IT’S DECEMBER ALREADY AND I’M NOT EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH SHOOTING! AARGH!
And, of course, there haven’t been any blog posts for a while. I’ve been… busy. My producer apparently didn’t notice that I haven’t been posting. Uh-oh…
Right now, I’m uploading a slightly-better-than-rough cut of my latest film “The Shrub Whisperer” for my producer, lead actor Jeff McGullion, and a couple trusted critics. They’ll make notes. Then I’ll read them. Then I’ll throw up. Then I’ll think about it. Then I’ll re-edit the picture. That’s how this filmmaking stuff works.
Last week, a friend at church pulled me aside and told me that one of my videos had over 19,000 hits on Godtube, a Christian-themed Youtube-ish site. I looked, and… wow. It’s true. If you’re curious, here’s the video (it IS pretty funny):
I exchanged emails with a Godtube employee to figure out how it all happened–apparently, they found the video and featured it on the website for several days. The whole experience was a tremendous encouragement. We’ve identified a mareket segment, and have augmented the marketing plan for the documentary currently in production (not “The Shrub Whisperer,” the other one).
Expect big news in the next few weeks on “The Shrub Whisperer.” We’re getting REALLY CLOSE to having the film completed.

Great job with the kung fu video John! I just happened to watch this for the first time the other day (I saw it under your Latest Videos) and got a kick out of it. Cool to see it get some attention. Looking forward to finally seeing The Shrub Whisperer too
