Razorwire

I spent the past hour watching rain pelt my windshield.  When it precipitates in San Diego, the populous thinks Al Gore’s Inconvenient Nightmare has arrived, and traffic slows to the pace of a five-legged millipede crawling uphill in a mudslide.  My dog was in the back of the car–a vet’s appointment–gassing my car with that classic wet dog scent.  It all reminded me of THAT TIME, that one time when…

…two weeks ago, I sat across from my Pastor, grilling him on camera about life, the universe, and everything.  It was deep.  I got him crying twice.  I cried once.  All on camera.  Beautiful.

We wrapped.  I left, ate a spicy grilled chicken sandwich from the Burger King at Clairmont Mesa & 163, and drove home.  At 2 a.m., I woke up, wretched, dashed to the bathroom, and puked my guts out–food poisoning.  I spent three days in bed, and lost almost ten pounds.  Beats NutraSlim, right?

The dog’s smell reminded me of… that smell… from when I was sick. Rough drive.

The movie–you know the movie I’m making?  The documentary about church?  Well, we’re about seventy percent done with shooting now.  I think we’ve shot around sixty hours of footage (the aforementioned interview gave us about twelve hours of footage–we shot with three HDV cameras simultaneously).  We’re way under budget. I’m putting together a post-production schedule.

The movie has a working title now: Razorwire.

Coolest.  Title.  Ever.

There’s a new video–actually, a pair of videos–on the site!  I posted links to parts one and two of The Demon Squirrel, a very funny short that I worked on back in 2001.  As filmmakers, we’ve all come a long way since then… but I still love the last five minutes of this film (I won’t spoil it).  I hope you enjoy it.*

*NOTE:  There’s a grammatical error in the opening voice-over that bugs the snot outta me.  Maybe it won’t bother you as much as it does me…
