New Release September 27!

Next Sunday, we’re going to release The Shrub Whisperer, and it’s going to be FREE for you to watch.

As you may have noticed, this film has taken a while to get finished.  Two and a half years, to be exact.  This film, as much as I love it, was always a pet project and never had a release date.  And, as it was self-financed, no one was holding a gun to my head to finish it while copious other projects (including my own wedding and corporate video business) came and went.  In addition, post-production on this film has been, for various reasons, about as enjoyable as passing a kidney stone.

However, the final product is a very cute and funny comedy, about fifteen minutes long, and I know you’ll enjoy it.

It is slightly incomplete.  The film needs some ADR.*  The problem is that Jeff McGullion, the film’s star, is starring in a highly acclaimed production of The Buddy Holly Story in North Carolina, and his availability has been severely limited. But while that work prevents the film from being festival ready, I believe it’s ready for your viewing pleasure.  So we’ll be streaming the film for free.

Since it’s not done, we’re releasing it as “The Shrub Whisperer: Release Candidate,” a term which some of you software geeks may get a kick out of.*

When it’s released next Sunday, you’ll have three viewing options.  The first will be to view the film in all its comic glory.  The second will be to view the film with director’s commentary from me, who I’m sure you can’t get enough of.  The third–and I’m really, really pumped about this–will be to view the film with a degrading, Mystery Science 3000-style commentary prepared by radio personality Joe Cook and my producer, Josh Seltzer.  I can’t wait!

So here it comes!  Hope you guys enjoy it!

I linked a previously uploaded preview below as well.  I can’t wait to bring you the film on September 27!

* Additional Dialogue Recording–basically dubbing

** Software companies, when releasing unfinished software as a test, will call their software “Release Candidate.”  I guess.  Blame my producer if you don’t like it.  He thought it up.
